Apreciados compañeros, amigos y colaboradores,
Me dirijo a vosotros como Presidenta del Comité Organizador de SEDLEON 20.0.
Es muy grato para mí daros la bienvenida al 20 Congreso Nacional de la Sociedad Española del Dolor SED y a la ciudad de León, que tendrá lugar los próximos 29, 30 y 31 de mayo de 2024, en el Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones, un moderno y extenso edificio a pocos pasos de la estación de tren AVE y del centro de la ciudad #SEDOLOR24.
Desde la SED, proponemos un moderno e innovador programa científico dirigido tanto a los congresistas jóvenes como a los más experimentados, analizando los recientes progresos en investigación en dolor, los avances en los tratamientos, las controversias y las evidencias mejor definidas. Destacadas figuras nacionales e internacionales, así como joven talento emergente, formarán parte de nuestro equipo de ponentes.
Los comités científico y organizador del congreso, apostamos por la formación de las generaciones jóvenes en la práctica diaria, y presentamos por primera vez los Talleres prácticos de implantes de neuroestimulación e infusión intratecal en cadáveres.
Otra novedad en los cursos pre-congreso será la posibilidad de realizar un taller práctico en el uso de opioides. Además del ya conocido curso de radiofrecuencia, casos clínicos, mesas redondas, simposios y conferencias magistrales, nos permitirán aprender y conversar sobre lo que nos preocupa: el paciente con dolor y su entorno. Y por supuesto, también los pacientes tendrán voz en el programa.
Hemos querido anunciar la próxima edición del congreso como SEDLEON 20.0 haciendo un guiño a las nuevas ideas que aporta la inteligencia artificial al diagnóstico y tratamiento del dolor. Estudiaremos cómo la realidad virtual inmersiva y la realidad aumentada, o los software de chatbot, van a modificar nuestra formación y a mejorar la atención que prestamos a nuestros pacientes.
Con el espíritu de celebrar la que será la edición número 20 del Congreso Nacional, queremos convertirla en una fecha significativa rindiendo homenaje, en forma de exposición, a todos aquellos que, a lo largo de los años, han contribuido a esta gran familia que es hoy la SED. Dedicaremos una sala expositiva permanente dentro del recinto, para la realización de diferentes actos en los que participaremos todos.
La ciudad de León, cruce de civilizaciones, estilos y destinos históricos, fue fundada como campamento por una de las legiones romanas. La ciudad evolucionó hasta convertirse en una de las más importantes del norte peninsular, donde se instaló la corte imperial. A los reyes leoneses se debe un hito legislativo trascendental: las primeras cortes de inspiración pre-democrática convocadas en Europa en 1.188. La UNESCO, basándose en el testimonio documental más antiguo del sistema parlamentario, ha reconocido a la ciudad de León como “Cuna del Parlamentarismo”.
Pensar en nuestra próxima cita para compartir ideas, conocimientos y conversaciones sobre “dolor”, ha inspirado nuestro cartel anunciador de SEDLEON 20.0, al que permitidme dedicar unas palabras. Aunque el cuerpo es el dibujo de un embrión, símbolo del estadío de conocimiento en que nos encontramos, el resultado final es más de figura de medio cuerpo que de humanoide informe. El corazón es una vidriera en la que aparece la catedral de León cuyo rosetón es un ojo. El conjunto aparenta ser un personaje de comic llamado SuperTeam, como los superhéroes de los tebeos, luchando contra viento y marea por defender la continuidad del tratamiento del dolor, como un SuperEquipo que seguirá apostando por el manejo interdisciplinar del dolor. Un cierto mundo de metamorfosis kafkiana al que nos remite el autor, Eduardo López Casado.
Finalmente quiero agradecer a toda la Junta Directiva, a los Comités científico y organizador, y a nuestros indispensables colaboradores de la Industria Farmacéutica y Tecnológica, su inestimable cooperación para organizar un evento de máximo nivel e interés científico.
Esperamos veros en León disfrutando en un encuentro tan especial, y que este congreso sea una experiencia profesional y personal inolvidable #SEDOLOR24.

Dear colleagues, friends and collaborators,
I am writing to you as a President of the Organizing Committee of 20th SEDLEON.
It is with great pleasure for me to welcome you to the 20th National Congress of the Spanish Pain Society and to the city of León, which will take place on May 29th, 30th and 31st 2024, at the Congress Exhibition Center, a modern and extensive building a short walk from the AVE train station and the city center #SEDOLOR24.
At SED we propose a modern and innovative scientific program aimed at both young and more experienced delegates, analysing recent progress in pain research, advances in treatments, controversial topics and better defined evidence. Prominent national and international figures, as well as young emergent talent, will be part of our team of speakers.
The scientific and organizing committees of the conference are committed to training young generations in daily practice, and we will introduce for the first time practical hands-on training workshops on neurostimulation implants and intrathecal infusion in cadavers.
Another new thing in the pre-congress courses will be the possibility to carry out practical workshop in the use of opioids. In addition to the well-known radiofrequency course, there will be clinical cases, round tables, symposiums and keynote conferences, which will allow us to learn and talk about the things which concern us: a patient with pain and everything surrounding them. And of course, patients will also have a voice in the program.
We wanted to announce the next edition of the conference as SEDLEON 20.0 with a nod to the new ideas AI brings to the diagnoses and treatment of pain. We will study how immersive virtual reality and augmented reality, or chatbot software, will modify our training and improve the care we provide to our patients.
In the spirit of celebrating what will be the 20th edition of the National Conference, we would like to mark a significant date by paying tribute in the form of exhibition to all who, throughout the years, have contributed to this growing family which today is SED. We will dedícate a permanent exhibition room within the conference center for different events in which we all participate.
The city of León, transcends civilizations, styles and historic places, was founded as a camp by of the Roman Legion. The city evolved to be one of the most important in the northern peninsula, where the imperial court was built. A transcendental legislative milestone is owed to the leonese kings: the first courts pre-democratic inspiration introduced in Europa in 1188. UNESCO, based on the oldest documentary evidence of a parliamentary system, has made the city of León to be recognized as the Cradle of Parliamentarism.
With an eye to our next meeting to share ideas, knowledge and conversations about pain, it has inspired our main poster announcing SEDLEON20.0, to which it allows me to dedicate a few words. Although the body is a drawing of an embrio, a symbol of the state of knowledge in which we find ourselves, the final result is more of a half body figure than a shapeless humanoid. The heart is a stained-glass window in which the cathedral of León appears, whose rose window is an eye. Together it makes up a superhero comic book character called “Superteam”, fighting tooth and nail in defense of pain treatment, like a tight team working together to improve interdisciplinary pain management. A Kafkaesque metamorphic world to which the author, Eduardo López Casado, refers us.
Finally, I would like to thank the entire Board of Directors, the Scientific and Organizing Committees and our indispensable collaborators from the Pharmaceutical and Technological Industry, for their invaluable cooperation in organizing an event of the highest level and scientific interest.
We hope to see you in León enjoying such a special meeting, and we hope that this Conference will be an unforgettable professional and personal experience for you all #SEDOLOR24.
